WINTER STORM WATCH for Calhoun County 2/24/19

Albion (AMN) — A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the Calhoun County area from Sunday Morning until Sunday Evening High winds are expected to reach more than 60 mph along with quick dropping temperatures. There is a significant possibility of snow, sleet, and ice accumulations.

Snow accumulations of up to 3 inches combined with strong winds may lead to whiteout driving conditions in the area.

The rapidly decreasing low pressure center leads to increased winds during the storm. This mimics the intensifying strength of a hurricane but without hurricane wind speeds. 50-62 mph winds are expected.

A wind advisory is in effect for all of southeast Michigan until 1 a.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

DTE Energy and Consumers Energy, the state’s largest utilities, already are making preparations to deal with outages.

Be prepared for the increased risk of power outages and tree damage. If you must travel plan on difficulties due to poor visibility.
