
Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, Albion, MI (AMN) – Sharps Collection Program Begins. The Calhoun County Solid Waste Program has recently installed sharps disposal drop-boxes to the Albion City Hall, the Regional Law Enforcement Center in Marshall, and the Toeller Building in Battle Creek.

These drop-boxes, funded through a FireKeepers Local Revenue Sharing Board 2019 Tier IV grant, will increase sharps disposal access for Calhoun County residents by providing year-round collection of sharps. The drop-boxes are residential use only and require the sharps to be placed in a shatterproof container such as a small sharps collection container or a rigid plastic container with a tight lid. Containers will need to fit the opening provided through the drop-box lid. Disposal of loose sharps is not allowed. Items accepted in drop-box:
- Needles
- Syringes
- Lancets
- Auto Injectors
Items not accepted in drop-box:
- Loose sharps
- Medications
- Business Waste
- Garbage
