Joint Information CenterWednesday, August 26As of 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, Calhoun County has a cumulative total of 820 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported to Calhoun County Public Health Department (CCPHD), with a total of 43 deaths attributed to the virus. This information is updated once daily, Monday through Friday, at www.calhouncountymi.gov.
Please note, today’s unusually high daily case number reflects a backlog of data that was reported to the Calhoun County Public Health Department. Approximately 20 cases were reported by a lab and are not reflective of our average daily case count nor are they due to a Calhoun County outbreak event.
Update From the Calhoun County CourtsDuring this week’s Joint Operations Center briefing, the Calhoun County Courts provided the following update:
- Clerks offices are fully operational, and the public can make an appointment to conduct business. The Justice Complex is open by appointment only, and a mask and health screening are required for entry. Visit calhouncountymi.gov/safestart for contact information to set up an appointment.
- Judges, Magistrates, and Referees are working in virtual courtrooms using Zoom and broadcast live via Youtube. Most hearing are held virtually in this way, but in some instances the judge may require or permit in-person appearances.
- Jury trials are expected to Oct. 12, 2020, and all considerations are being made to ensure jurors are safe when reporting to the courthouse for jury duty.
