Alex Kearney | Albion Michigan News | 9/26/2020 – Joedy Brown, Veteran, Wife, Mother, and Mayoral Candidate’s Son is not holding a F*** the Police Sign while his father is throwing a Peace sign. The Person holding the sign is Mr. Jerry Lashley.
I want to make this very clear; Joedy Brown is not that kind of Mother, and Scott Brown is not that kind of Father. To attempt to attack Mr. and Mrs. Brown on that level is distasteful, and whoever did so, one must question if proper Judgement was utilized.
AMN felt the need to Clarify this; Why? Because it is one of the founding principles of Albion Michigan News, “To inform all residents of Albion equally and honestly.”
Both Mr. and Mrs. Brown served in the United States Navy and took an Oath of Integrity, Accountability, Initiative, Toughness, and both uphold the fifteen leadership traits required of a Sailor. Judgment – Bearing – Justice – Unselfishness – Decisiveness – Courage – Initiative – Knowledge – Dependability – Loyalty – Tact – Enthusiasm – Integrity – Honor – Endurance.
Reiteration of the fact again for those in the back; It is NOT Jodi Brown’s Child holding an F-the-Police sign. The photo which is circulating on social media suggesting otherwise is bogus and not factual.
Scott Brown, Husband of Mayoral Candidate Jodi Brown, is standing next to Mr. Lashley while Mr. Lashley is holding a F* the Police sign. Also Note: The Sign has two sides, One Says F* the Police the other Side Says “No Justice No Peace.”
Mr. Brown was not aware which Side of the sign was up when he took a photograph with Mr. Lashley, and to be clear, it is Mr. Brown’s Constitutional right to believe whatever he so wishes, and because it is the Twenty-First Century, a Wife is not required to hold the same opinions as her Husband not to mention Joedy Brown has also made it very clear that she is in full, unwavering support of the Albion Department of Public Safety, and Mr. Brown is entirely on board with her vision for moving Albion Michigan forward.
Albion, Michigan residents are resilient and do not sink to disgusting low ball, desperate, classless, and dirty politics. We are better than that. However, it is this kind of divisive rhetoric that has tried to divided Neighbor by Neighbor, Block by Block.
Alex Kearney, recently interviewed Mr. Lashley regarding the meaning behind the sign. Jerry Lashley responded to a question regarding the purpose and intent of the saying on the sign. He stated, ” I do not hate police officers as human beings, So yes, I say f*** the Police, but mostly I blame the entire system that has been complacent while systemic racism runs rampant. After the grand jury decided the only charges in the Breonna Taylor case were for the bullets that missed her body, I’ll carry that sign every day.”
Mr. Brown released a statement, “My name is Scott Brown. A picture was recently taken next to a person holding a sign the reads ** The Police. I am holding my hand up with a peace gesture. This picture is being used out of context to attack my wife.
What isn’t being shared is the fact that the back of his sign reads No Justice No Peace. I support peace and justice. I thought the No Justice No Peace side was showing when the picture was taken, and that’s why I’m holding a peace sign in the photo.
I am attaching a photo from the same evening showing the same guy holding the same sign with the other side showing.
The evil politics that are being used by some on Facebook to try and discredit my wife are shameful. My wife is running for mayor to try and break the cycle of evil politics and create a voice for everyone and a seat at the table for everyone in Albion.”
