I-94 partially closed this weekend for 15 Mile Road bridge demolition

(AMN) – I-94 will be closed, including ramp closures at the I-94/I-69 interchange, this weekend as crews demolish the 15 Mile Road bridge over I-94 as part of the Michigan Department of Transportation’s (MDOT) ongoing $210 million investment to rebuild I-69 between Island Highway in Charlotte, Eaton County, and I-94 in Marshall, Calhoun County.

County: Calhoun

Highway: I-94

Closest city: Marshall

Start date: 8 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2022

Estimated end date: 6 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2022

Traffic restrictions:

I-94 will be closed between M-311 Exit 104 and I-69 Exit 108 from 8 p.m. Friday through noon Saturday, with traffic detoured on M-311, Michigan Avenue, and I-69.

The southbound I-69 ramp to westbound I-94, along with the westbound collector/distributor ramp west of the westbound I-94 ramp to southbound I-69, also will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday. Detours will be posted.

Jobs numbers: Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support nearly 2,667 jobs.

Safety benefit: These improvements will provide increased safety and mobility in this area of I-94 and I-69, which is a significant local and national trade corridor.

Funding for this project is made possible by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s Rebuilding Michigan program to rebuild the state highways and bridges that are critical to the state’s economy and carry the most traffic. The investment strategy is aimed at fixes that result in longer useful lives and improves the condition of the state’s infrastructure.
