(AMN) – On May 10, 2022, at approximately 6:10 a.m., Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the area of Michigan Avenue near 15 Mile Road in Marshall Township for a two vehicle injury crash. Through initial investigation, it was determined a passenger vehicle, driven by a 34-year-old female from Battle Creek was traveling westbound on Michigan Avenue and was attempting to overtake/pass a vehicle that was also traveling westbound. The overtaking vehicle was not able to complete the pass before striking a full size pickup truck, being driven by a 62-year-old male from Battle Creek, that was heading eastbound. The 34-year-old female was pronounced deceased on scene. The 62-year-old male was transported to a local hospital for injuries.
Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and conducted the investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor. Michigan Avenue between 15 Mile Road and 13 Mile Road was shut down for approximately 3 hours. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Marshall Township Fire, Marshall Area Fire Fighters Ambulance Authority, and Calhoun County Road Department.
