ADPS Officer Dan Riley responded to 112 Sycamore Ct for a report of a loose dog. Upon arrival he observed a tan and white Pitbull in the driveway of 112 Sycamore Ct. Officer Riley exited his patrol car in an attempt to make contact at the address with the owner. The Pitbull then charged at Officer Riley. Officer Riley took several steps back and drew his gun and as the dog approached him he fired 1 shot killing the dog. The grandmother of the owner of the dog stated they wanted us to leave the dog and that they would take care of the burial. After speaking with them the officers cleared the scene.

Calhoun County will offer free recycling events for electronics, scrap metal, and scrap tires during June. On June 14 there will be a scrap tire collection in Athens, and on June 26 there will be an electronics, scrap metal (no refrigerant), and scrap tires collection in Albion. These events are limited to residential materials and are open to all Calhoun County residents. Please see details below about each event.
