Arraignment delayed in Albion murder case


5:19 p.m. EST Feb. 14, 2020 – A 50-year-old Detroit man remained in jail Friday but was not arraigned in the murder of an Albion man.

Albion Department of Public Safety detectives along with the Michigan State Police arrested the man Wednesday in Detroit as a suspect in the homicide. He was returned to Calhoun County early Thursday.

The man, whose name has not been released, is a suspect in the stabbing death of Howard Embry, 66. His body was found about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and police suspect he died several hours earlier.

Albion Police Detective Justin Reniger said Thursday that drugs were involved in the case but declined to elaborate.
