(AMN) – Calhoun County Clerk and Register of Deeds Kimberly A. Hinkley reminds citizens that the upcoming filing deadline for some offices is April 19, 2022. Candidate packets for county commissioner, vacant/recently appointed township offices, school board, community college, and village positions are available on the Calhoun County elections website now, calhouncountymi.gov/elections.

Significantly, residents should be aware that redistricting has taken place at various levels of government and the new redistricting maps are available on the elections website. Six of the seven Calhoun County Commissioner District boundary lines have changed. Voters will be electing County Commissioners with the newly drawn districts in the 2022 elections (pictured below). Commissioner representation for these districts will begin January 1, 2023.

The primary election will be held on Aug. 2, 2022 and the general election will take place on Nov. 8, 2022.

Filing deadlines vary for different offices. Most immediately, anyone interested in running for county commissioner or vacant/recently-appointed township office  must file to be on the ballot by 4 p.m. on April 19, 2022.
