ADPS chase ends in deadly crash

AMN Staff, 4/14/2020, Updated 11:08am – ADPS Stated “On Tuesday, 4/14/2020 at approximately 12:45 AM, ADPS officers responded to a noise complaint on Valley View Dr.

Upon arrival a vehicle fled the area and officers attempted to stop it, but quickly lost it. Upon returning to the scene, officer found the suspect had assaulted an individual and heavily damaged the victim’s car.

Approximately 45 minutes later, an ADPS officer was patrolling in the area of Berrien St. and Pine St. when he saw the suspect’s car and attempted to stop it.

The car fled south on Monroe St. from Pine St and failed to stop at the stop signs at Mulberry St., Michigan Ave. and Cass St.

The suspect then lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree at a high rate of speed in the 100 block of S. Monroe St. ADPS and Sheridan Township were dispatched to extricate the suspect from the vehicle.

Once freed from the car, paramedics from Albion Community Ambulance worked on the suspect, while waiting for a helicopter from West Michigan Air Care to transport him to the hospital.

The suspect died of his injuries prior to the helicopter’s arrival. The suspect has been identified as a 38 year old man from Albion.

ADPS was also assisted by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department and the Michigan State Police.
