BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Battle Creek Police are telling local businesses to double check their $100 bills after a slew of very realistic, fake Benjamins.
They say in multiple incidents a black woman possibly in her 20s has used counterfeit $100 bills to pay for merchandise in the Albion and Marshall areas.
The catch is the counterfeit bills pass the marker test, but officers believe that they are $10 bills that have been bleached and reprinted as $100 bills.
Authorities are recommending that businesses owners educate their employees about counterfeit bill identification, and do not rely on the marker alone.
They’re working to collect further evidence to identify the suspect.
Anyone with information should contact Battle Creek Police at 269-966-3322 or Silent Observer at 269-964-3888.
