ADPS Responds to drowning on the Kalamazoo River North Branch

May 31, 2019 Albion, MI (AMN) — Per ADPS at 8:53 p.m.

“At approximately 7:30 p.m. today Albion Department of Public Safety responded to a possible drowning near the damn at Porter street and Monroe Street. Upon arrival ADPS found a 55 year old woman who had fallen out of a kayak and was trapped underwater. It took firefighters approximately 10 minutes to free the woman and get her out of swift moving water. Paramedics and firefighters worked on the woman for several before she was transported to a hospital.”

Albion Department of Public Safety officers said the woman, identified as Betty Micheal of Albion, lost control of her kayak in swift moving water near the dam.
